In 2023, we educated over 1,000 kids on field trips to the Wild Mile. Aiming even higher in 2024, we need your help to facilitate these experiences. If you like working with kids, this is the opportunity for you!
Our staff has a set of 3-5 activities that we use to guide kids through the Wild Mile, learning about river ecology, stewardship, and more. These activities can be easily run by a knowledgeable volunteer. We're offering three trainings in anticipation of our busy field trip season so that we'll be ready to deploy trained volunteer educators throughout the spring and summer.
These 1 hour-long trainings will be required in order sign up for our educational facilitation opportunities down the line - we'll likely start offering these in April. You'll learn how to make seed bombs, find and identify macroinvertebrates, and use microscopes to examine algae!
We'll meet on the Wild Mile boardwalk, and the whole training should take about an hour.
