There's a huge amount of work here at Urban Rivers that we can only do with the bright green pontoon boat that Nick calls The Burden of Dreams Two. What you may not know is that local boat guy, Joe Brown, has been loaning Urban Rivers that boat for free each summer, and maintaining it each winter when he brings it back on land.
Joe has been forced out of the spot he normally operates his boat business each summer due to a nearby superfund site that's being rehabilitated. He just got word that he can move to the spot that, up until a few years ago, operated as the Goose Island water taxi stop. He's getting the place prepared for the season, and would love some help.
On Monday at 11:00 we'll meet at the spot (it's right by the old Cherry Avenue Rail Bridge). If you want to meet at the Urban Rivers office (1440 N. Kingsbury) and walk over together, we'll leave from there at about 10:45.
The task should be moving some dock deck boards and fastening them in place.
Thanks!
